Back in1894 the US Mint issued a dime, no big deal right? Kinda, the regular 1894 dime had a mintage of 1,330,000 and is worth about $25.00. The 1894-O had a mintage of 720,000 and can bring in up to $500.00.

But, there is a third dime, if there wasn`t then there would be no need for this post, but there is, the 1894-S Barber Dime (The “S” stands for San Francisco) and it is one of the world`s most famous rare coins.

Back in 1894 there were 24 of these coins minted and only 10 are known to exist at this time.

So if you were a dime and you were from 1894 and you were really, really rare and you were from San Francisco, what would you be worth? Well, back in 2007 an anonymous collector paid a silvery $1.9 million for one of you.
