World's Most Expensive Sushi

Only Chef Angelito Araneta Jr. from the Philippines could create such a dish as the most extravagant, and most expensive, sushi dish! The chef is known around the world as being a chef who doesn’t just make dishes, he perfects them. In 2009 he made headlines again when he perfected a $2,500 ‘carat’ cake that was completely covered in gold and that was topped with gold’s best friend – diamonds.

The most expensive sushi is another example of how Chef Araneta is prepared to spare no expense. The sushi entails a total of five pieces of sushi, each wrapped with edible gold leaf and topped with a .2 carat African diamond. Chef Aranata presented his dish in June 2010 at a restaurant in Milan. The dish cost a whopping 91,800 pesos, just under $2,000 USD!
