Most Expensive iPad 2It’s been exactly 10 months since we brought you the world’s most expensive rectangle and now we bring you the world’s most expensive iPad 2……almost.

This time instead of looking for some diamond encrusted piece of bling that almost no one could afford and even less would want, we decided to compare retail pricing across the globe and maybe get some insight into who Steve Jobs likes or doesn’t.

Since Steve is American it is no wonder that citizens of the U.S. can buy the iPad 2 for the lowest retail price in the world; $499.99. and with the declining U.S. dollar it seems to be a better deal every day.

You could argue that Steve does not care much for Hong Kong as if you want the latest iPad version it’ll set you back the equivalent of $1,900.00 but bear in mind it hasn’t yet been officially released there yet.

Seems the real poor folk that have made Steve’s naughty, not nice list reside in Denmark where the same iPad will set them back the equivalent of $702.00 , almost 30% more than in the U.S.

So to you Steve Jobs: skål.

201-carat ChopardWatches can be traced back to the 1500s with the invention of pocket watches. Thesefirst timepieces were expensive, heavy, needed continuous winding and were of by as much as several hours per day. There main function was that of a status symbol.

Over time watches became smaller, more accurate and cheaper to produce and in 1880 Constant Girard developed the concept of wristwatches and they weremade for German naval officers, ordered by Emperor Guillaume I of Germany, of which 2,000 were produces.

Now we jump to the present and it seems we have come full circle with the world’s most expensive watch.

The Chopard 201-carat watch easily takes that title but you can clearly see that the emphasis is not on it being a practical timepiece, but rather a status symbol. Sould you happen to dish out the $25 million one of these watches will set you back, here is what you’ll get:

  • 1 Fancy Pink heart-shaped diamond (15.37 ct)
  • 1 Fancy Blue heart-shaped diamond (12.79 ct)
  • 1 D color heart-shaped diamond, D color (11.36 ct)
  • 29 Fancy Intense Yellow pear-shaped diamonds (25.52 ct total)
  • 48 Fancy Yellow round diamonds (8.81 ct total)
  • 260 D color pear-shaped diamonds(60.94 ct total)
  • 91 D color round diamonds (10.29 ct total)
  • 443 Fancy Intense Yellow FC diamonds(4.95 ct total)

Now if you’re looking for a pocket watch or if $25 million is a bit too much for you then you can opt for the world’s second most expensive watch, Patek Philippe’s supercomplication, and it can be yours for a timely $11 million USD.

Almas caviarIf you love caviar and don’t mind the fact that you’re dishing out lots on money for fish eggs then we’d like to introduce you to Almas caviar, the world’s most expensive caviar and it will set you back a fishy $25,000.00 per kilogram or $11,000.00 per pound or $700.00 per ounce.

Almas (Russian for diamond) caviar comes from the rare Beluga Sturgeon from the Caspian Sea, but not only is the fish rare, to make it into a tin of Almas caviar the roe has to come from one that is at least a 100 years old, in fact the older the fish gets the whiter the caviar gets.

If you do find yourself in possession of a tin of Almas caviar and don’t find the taste worth the price, there is one other upside, the tin the caviar came in is 24K gold.
