Back in 2007 the United Arab Emirates held a  license plate auction and there were some really expensive license plates sold.

For reference: United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) = $.27 USD.

Plate #55555 sold for 2 million dirhams.

Plate #12 sold for 8.9 million dirhams.

Plate #5 sold for 25.2 million dirhams or $6.8 million (the most expensive license plate at the time).

In 2008 the United Arab Emirates held another  license plate auction, this time plate #1 was up for grabs.

The license plate was purchased by Saeed Abdul Ghafour Khouri for a sandy $14.3 million USD.

Technically Clive Christian No. 1 is the world’s most expensive perfume running a smelly $2,150.00 USD per 2 oz bottle and it’s combination of Indian jasmine, mandarin and sandalwood has some pretty big fans such as Elton John.

Now for some people, like Elton, $1,075.00/ounce is just not expensive enough so British designer Clive Christian came to the rescue.

Clive poured 16.9 ounces of No. 1 into a bottle with an 18 carat gold collar that houses a five-carat diamond and called it “Clive Christian’s Imperial Majesty“.

As only 5 are made every year it may be hard to sniff one out, but if you do, a fruity $215,000.00 USD will have you smelling like a million bucks.

What happens if you walk onto a supermarket and take a picture? Usually not much.

But if your name is Andreas Gurskyand you are a German visual artist known for your enormous architecture and landscape color photographs then the results end up being the world’s most expensive photograph.

The photo depicts an interior of a supermarket with numerous aisles depicting goods resulting in a colorful work. The work is digitally altered to reduce perspective. The photograph is a chromogenic color print or c-print. It is a two part work, also called a diptych. There were 6 sets made and mounted on acrylic glass. The photographs have a size of 207 by 337 centimeters.

Created in 2001, 99 Cent II Diptychon, sold at auction at Sotheby’s on February 7, 2007 for a fair market price of $3.34 million USD.

If you ever travel to Hokkaidō, Japan’s second largest island, be sure to search out an Densuke watermelon, perhaps the rarest and most expensive watermelon in the world.

If fact, they are so rare that sometimes they produce only sixty fruit during a harvest and Japanese purchase these watermelons as gifts.

Not only because of their rarity but also due to the fact that they are superior to American watermelons because they are sweeter and firmer, they sell for about $200.00 each.

A perfect example of a  Densuke watermelon, weighing 17 pounds, sold at an auction to a man wanting to support local agriculture, he paid a seedy $6,100.00 USD.
